- Reinvention of an existing centre
- New ETFE roof
- Public realm and environmental improvements

Leslie Jones Architecture was brought on board by Sovereign Land to design and implement a range of asset management initiatives at its Ayr Central shopping centre in Ayr, Scotland. Since opening in 2006, a number of the units had remained empty and Sovereign Land required a strategy that would enhance the centre’s environment and attract new retailers and tenants.
Under Leslie Jones’ experienced project leadership, a comprehensive refurbishment programme was initiated to create a revitalised sense of place. Works included a new £1.5 million lightweight ETFE roof as well as new pavement, lighting and signage to lift the public realm and improve the customer experience.
Leslie Jones liaised closely with tenants throughout the design and build process, ensuring the centre could remain fully operational throughout. The highly experienced team also worked within the local context and regulations to ensure a smooth planning and implementation process at Ayr Central.
Following Leslie Jones’ expert management of the refurbishment, several new retailers have already been attracted to the centre, including JD Sports, Top Shop and Officers Club.
